461.007, F.S.; revising certain continuing education 3
requirements to apply to certain persons; providing an 4
effective date. 5

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 7

Section 1. Subsection (3) of section 461.007, Florida 9
Statutes, is amended to read: 10
461.007 Renewal of license.— 11
(3) The board may by rule prescribe continuing education, 12
not to exceed 40 hours biennially, as a condition for renewal of 13
a license, with a minimum of 2 hours of continuing education 14
related to the safe and effective prescribing of controlled 15
substances for each person registered with the United States 16
Drug Enforcement Administration and authorized to prescribe 17
controlled substances pursuant to 21 U.S.C. s. 822. The criteria 18
for such programs or courses shall be approved by the board. 19
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2026. 20
