An act relating to the Justice Administrative 2
Commission; amending s. 43.16, F.S.; revising the 3
membership of the Justice Administrative Commission; 4
providing an effective date. 5

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 7

Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 43.16, Florida 9
Statutes, is amended to read: 10
43.16 Justice Administrative Commission; membership, 11
powers and duties.— 12
(2) Members of the Justice Administrative Commission shall 13
serve for a period of 2 years, with the terms of each dating 14
from July 1, 1985, except that initially, one state attorney 15
member and one public defender member shall each serve a 1-year 16
term. Members shall be selected in the following manner: 17
(a) Three Two state attorneys, to be appointed by the 18
president of the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association. 19
(b) Two public defenders, to be appointed by the president 20
of the Florida Public Defender Association. 21
(c) One criminal defense attorney who is not employed by 22
the government and who has contracted with the commission to 23
provide services pursuant to s. 27.40 within the 5 years 24
preceding his or her appointment, to be appointed by the 25

president of The Florida Bar Board of Governors. 26
(d) One judge, or senior judge serving on a court, to be 27
appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. 28
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2026. 29
