F.S.; increasing the minimum age requirements relating 4
to the use of helmets for electric personal assistive 5
mobility devices; providing an effective date. 6

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

Section 1. Subsection (4) of section 316.2068, Florida 10
Statutes, is amended to read: 11
316.2068 Electric personal assistive mobility devices; 12
regulations.— 13
(4) A person who is under the age of 18 16 years may not 14
operate, ride, or otherwise be propelled on an electric personal 15
assistive mobility device unless the person wears a bicycle 16
helmet that is properly fitted, that is fastened securely upon 17
his or her head by a strap, and that meets the standards of the 18
American National Standards Institute (ANSI Z Bicycle Helmet 19
Standards), the standards of the Snell Memorial Foundation (1984 20
Standard for Protective Headgear for Use in Bicycling), or any 21
other nationally recognized standards for bicycle helmets which 22
are adopted by the department. 23
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2026. 24
