Hawaii published version HD1

Plain English: This amendment limits the civil liability of individuals who provide firefighting services with a vessel at commercial harbors, roadsteads, or state-controlled waterfront areas to damages resulting from gross negligence or wanton acts.

  • Adds new section to Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 266 that protects firefighters providing services with vessels from civil liability except for damages caused by their gross negligence or wanton acts.
  • The amendment specifies an effective date of July 1, 3000, which seems unusual and may be a placeholder or error.
  • It is unclear why the effective date is set so far in the future.
