Hawaii published version HD1

Plain English: This amendment changes the law to require drivers to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks until the pedestrian has completely exited the crosswalk and it's safe for the driver to proceed.

  • Drivers must now stop for pedestrians crossing within a crosswalk, regardless of which side of the road they are on.
  • The amendment specifies that drivers cannot move forward until the pedestrian is fully out of the crosswalk and it is safe to do so.
  • The effective date of July 1, 3000, seems unusual and may be a placeholder or error in the text provided.
