A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating
to the hawaii technology development corporation
.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION
1.
�
The legislature finds that the Hawaii
technology development corporation serves as a facilitative catalyst for
technology and innovation in the State and is intended to help align the State
with emerging technologies related to computer software, biotechnology, ocean
science, energy, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, sensor and
communication systems, medical devices and testing, aerospace, and defense.

Accordingly,
the purpose of this Act is to support economic diversification by appropriating
funds to the Hawaii technology development corporation to support certain
programs.
����
SECTION
2.
�
There is appropriated out of the
general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of
$ or so much
thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2026-2027 to support economic
diversification by providing funding for Hawaii technology development
corporation programs, to be allocated as follows:
����
(1)
�
$
to the Hawaii small business innovation research program to provide matching
grants to help small businesses that receive funding from the federal small
business innovation research and small business technology transfer programs
further develop new products to solve critical issues;
����
(2)
�
$
to the manufacturing assistance program to help Hawaii-based manufacturers
become more globally competitive; and
����
(3)
�
$
to the accelerator and small business training programs to help develop businesses
that are solving large-scale problems in the community using innovative,
advanced manufacturing, and technology-based solutions.
����
The sum
appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii technology development corporation
for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3.
�
This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2026.
