HOUSE RESOLUTION
commending and honoring alan johnson for his
contributions to addressing substance and behavioral health issues through hina
mauka
.

WHEREAS, the
House of Representatives takes great pride in recognizing visionary leaders
whose work has transformed the lives of thousands and strengthened the fabric
of our communities; and
����
WHEREAS, ALAN
JOHNSON has served Hina Mauka for nearly three decades in various capacities,
including as its COO, CFO, Managing Director, President, and CEO, guiding the
organization through decades of growth and innovation and establishing it as a
cornerstone of substance use and behavioral health treatment in Hawai
ʻ
i by providing
services to over 70,000 individuals; and
����
WHEREAS, under
ALAN JOHNSON's leadership, Hina Mauka expanded services across the islands,
introduced evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and
motivational interviewing, and pioneered integrated care models that addressed
co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders; and
����
WHEREAS, ALAN
JOHNSON has championed treatment programs for women, adolescents, and Native
Hawaiian communities, has inspired a statewide commitment to school-based
prevention services, and was instrumental in forming the Hawaii Substance Abuse
Coalition; and
����
WHEREAS, through
his extraordinary leadership, heartfelt compassion, and tireless service, ALAN
JOHNSON helped shape a legacy of empathy, excellence, and inclusion that will
continue to guide Hina Mauka into the future; and
����
WHEREAS, after
nearly thirty years of service, ALAN JOHNSON is retiring, leaving behind a
stronger organization, a profoundly transformed community, and a steady source
of strength for individuals and families on their journey to recovery; now,
therefore,

RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-third Legislature of the
State of Hawai

Regular Session of 2026, that this body hereby commends and honors ALAN JOHNSON
for his contributions to addressing substance and behavioral health issues
through Hina Mauka, celebrates his retirement with deep gratitude, and extends
to him its warmest aloha and best wishes for a joyful retirement and continued
inspiration in all future endeavors.
