DAVID LASSNER devoted nearly five decades of service to the University of Hawai

i System, contributing
to the institution as a staff member, an executive, and president; and

WHEREAS, throughout
his long and distinguished career, DR. DAVID LASSNER played a central role in
advancing the University of Hawai
ʻ
i's
core mission, promoting academic excellence, and providing opportunities for
generations of students to pursue higher education; and

WHEREAS, as president
of the University of Hawai

System, DR. DAVID LASSNER provided steady, principled leadership, guiding a
complex, multi-campus system through periods of transformation, challenge, and
growth, while remaining grounded and respectful toward students, faculty, and
staff; and

expanded the university's global and Pacific Region engagement, and
