COMMENDING TUMUA TUINEI FOR HIS OUTSTANDING
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS A LEADING FIGURE IN HAWAIʻI�S ENTERTAINMENT COMMUNITY,
HIS COLLABORATION WITH THE STATE OF HAWAIʻI TO SUPPORT YOUTH WELLNESS, AND
HIS POSITIVE, FAR‑REACHING SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE THAT UPLIFTS AND
PERPETUATES HAWAIʻI�S CULTURE WHILE BRINGING LAUGHTER TO THE PEOPLE OF
HAWAIʻI.

WHEREAS, TUMUA
TUINEI, born on January 21, 1996, in Honolulu, O

ahu,
grew up surrounded by the values of family, humility, and hard work that shaped
his early life and future career, and from a young age demonstrated a natural
ability to connect with others through humor, relatability, and a deep
appreciation for Hawai
ʻ
i�s
local culture; and

TUINEI, the son of Tom and Louise Tuinei of Honolulu, O
ʻ
ahu, graduated from Punahou School in the
Class of 2014, and followed a path inspired by athletic excellence by enrolling
at the University of Hawai
ʻ
i
at Mānoa, where he majored in Communicology with a minor in Theatre while
excelling as a Division I defensive back for the University of Hawai
ʻ
i Rainbow Warriors
football team from 2014 to 2018, demonstrating perseverance, discipline, and
leadership throughout his collegiate career; and

WHEREAS, TUMUA
TUINEI discovered his passion for comedy while attending UH Mānoa, taking
a stand up class that led to his first performance at Anna O�Brien�s comedy
club; balancing the demands of being a student athlete, he continued to refine
his craft at local venues throughout Honolulu, eventually headlining his first
show before an audience of more than 300 attendees and steadily developing the
comedic voice that would define his career, and later rose to prominence during
the COVID 19 pandemic through his humorous, local style sketches on social
media, creating content that resonated deeply with Hawai
ʻ
i residents and the broader Polynesian
community and expanding his reach across multiple platforms, including
Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, where he amassed more than 700,000
followers who connected with his authenticity, cultural insight, relatable
humor, and vibrant personality; and

WHEREAS, TUMUA
TUINEI extended his impact beyond entertainment in 2021 by partnering with the
Hawai
ʻ
i
Department of Health to support its TeenLink Hawai
ʻ
i public awareness campaign, using his
comedy and recognizable style to strengthen youth resources statewide, promote
wellness and mental health, encourage positive communication within families,
and make important information more accessible to teens and caregivers, and has
since emerged as one of Hawai
ʻ
i�s
most prominent contemporary comedians, selling out major venues across the
state, including 18 sold out shows at Blue Note Hawai
ʻ
i in 2021 and multiple sold out nights at
the Blaisdell Concert Hall, and expanding nationally and internationally
through a 2024 tour that reached 24 cities, 14 states, 5 islands, and 2
countries, while releasing two stand up specials, Strictly Aloha and Talk
Story: The Crowd Work Special, earning widespread acclaim and further
solidifying his impact on modern Hawai
ʻ
i
entertainment; and

TUINEI, supported by his wife, Rachael Ostovich, with whom he shares a profound
commitment to family, culture, and community, and together they welcomed their
daughter, Dovey Pearl Tali
ʻ

Tuinei, on May 15, 2024, strengthening their
ʻ
ohana
and deepening their dedication to raising their child with aloha and pride in
her Hawaiian heritage; now, therefore,

BE IT
RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-third Legislature of the
State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2026, hereby commends TUMUA TUINEI for his
achievements in comedy and entertainment, recognizes his rise from a young
local athlete to a nationally touring comedian who has brought pride, laughter,
and a renewed sense of cultural identity to audiences across Hawai
ʻ
i and beyond,
acknowledges his commitment to public service through impactful partnerships
such as the TeenLink Hawai
ʻ
i
campaign, celebrates his role as a cultural ambassador whose work preserves and
uplifts Hawai
ʻ
i�s
humor, language, and community spirit, and honors his dedication to family as a
husband and father who carries forward the values of aloha, humility, and
ʻ
ohana, and extends its
sincere appreciation for his admirable efforts to uplift Hawai
ʻ
i�s culture,
community, and spirit through humor, creativity, hard work, and a heartfelt
commitment to the people of Hawai
