STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating
to the State archives
.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1.
�
(a)
�
There is established with the department of
accounting and general services the state archives relocation task force.
�
The purpose of the state archives relocation
task force shall be to make recommendations on a new location for the state
archives building.

����
(b)
�
The
state archives relocation task force shall consist of the following members:

����
(1)
�
The
state archivist, who shall serve as the chair of the task force;

����
(2)
�
The
comptroller, or the comptroller's designee;

����
(3)
�
The
land administrator or the land administrator's designee; and

����
(4)
�
Two
members appointed by the governor without regard to section 26-34; provided
that:

(A)
�
One
of the members shall be an archivist in the State; and

(B)
�
One
of the members shall have expertise in construction or real estate acquisition.

(c)
�

The state archives relocation task force shall submit a report to the
legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regulation
session of 2026 containing:

The
following for the state archives building:

(A)

A
recommendation for the new location;

����
����
(B)
�
Recommended building requirements;

����
����
(C)
�
Estimated costs for the relocation, including
estimated costs for any construction, renovation, and land acquisition;

(2)
�
Any
other information or recommendations pertinent to the relocation of the state
archives building.

(d)
�

The state archives relocation task force shall cease to exist on June
30, 2026.

SECTION 2.
�

This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
