SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

60 ILCS 1/120-25 new

Amends the Township Code. Provides that a township that maintains
public parks pursuant to the Township Parks Article of the Township Code
shall have, in addition to the rights, powers, and obligations granted to
townships under the Township Code, all the rights, powers, and obligations
of a park district organized under the Park District Code, except the
authority to levy taxes pursuant to Taxing Powers Article of the Park
District Code.

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5.
The Township Code is amended by adding Section
5
120-25 as follows:

(60 ILCS 1/120-25 new)

Sec. 120-25.
Exercise of park-related powers.
A township
8
that maintains public parks pursuant to this Article shall
9
have, in addition to the rights, powers, and obligations
10
granted to townships under this Code, all the rights, powers,
11
and obligations of a park district organized under the Park
12
District Code, except the authority to levy taxes pursuant to
13
Article 5 of the Park District Code.
