SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 2705/2705-628 new

Amends the Department of Transportation Law of the Civil
Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of Transportation
to work with the State Fire Marshal to develop best practices when
constructing or reconstructing roadways to accommodate firefighter
vehicles in turning and accessing roadways for emergencies. Effective
immediately.

AN ACT concerning State government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5.
The Department of Transportation Law of the
5
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding
6
Section 2705-628 as follows:

(20 ILCS 2705/2705-628 new)

Sec. 2705-628.
Accommodation of firefighter vehicles.
The
9
Department shall work with the State Fire Marshal to develop
10
best practices when constructing or reconstructing roadways to
11
accommodate firefighter vehicles in turning and accessing
12
roadways for emergencies, such as the inclusion of turnarounds
13
on newly constructed or reconstructed roadways.

Section 99.
Effective date.
This Act takes effect upon
15
becoming law.
