HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate the University High
4
School girls varsity volleyball team, the Pioneers, on winning
5
the 2025 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A
6
State Championship; and

7

WHEREAS, The Pioneers completed their championship season
8
with a two-set victory over the Nazareth Academy girls varsity
9
volleyball team, the Roadrunners, at CEFCU Arena in Normal on
10
November 15, 2025, marking the school's first championship
11
since 2000; and

12

WHEREAS, The Pioneers won each of their final 30 matches
13
of the season to finish the year with a 38-4 record, including
14
wins over nearby teams such as Central Catholic High School,
15
Normal Community West High School, Bloomington High School,
16
and Tri-Valley High School; and

17

WHEREAS, The Pioneers' championship win reflects a season
18
dedicated to hard work, grit, and resilience, and their
19
success was celebrated with a ceremony held at University High
20
School in Normal on November 21, 2025; and

21

WHEREAS, The Pioneers are led by Head Coach Ratasha

Thompson, who was completing her first year as head coach
2
after serving in an interim role last season; and

WHEREAS, The members of the 2025 Pioneers include Ava
4
Crabtree, Addison Donahue, Emma Eloiza, Madison Funk, Emily
5
Gross, Nina Harden, Avery Holzbauer, Kaitlyn Kline, Emma Jean
6
Lehnen, Kyndel Nelson, Taylor Penn, Morgan Petelin, Laney
7
Snow, Kylie Stanton, and Alyssa Wolf; therefore, be it

8

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10
we congratulate the University High School girls varsity
11
volleyball team, the Pioneers, on winning the 2025 Illinois
12
High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A State Championship,
13
and we wish the team continued success; and be it further

14

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15
presented to Head Coach Ratasha Thompson as a symbol of our
16
respect and esteem.
