HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Kathy Veroni on being
4
awarded the 2025 Humanitarian Award from the National
5
Fastpitch Coaches Association; and

6

WHEREAS, Kathy Veroni was born in Rockford and attended
7
Boylan Catholic High School in Rockford and Illinois State
8
University; and

9

WHEREAS, Kathy Veroni coached the Western Illinois
10
University softball team for 34 years from 1971 to 2005; and

11

WHEREAS, Kathy Veroni coached the softball team to 869
12
wins, 11 conference championships, five Association of
13
Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) national
14
tournaments, and three NCAA national tournaments; and

15

WHEREAS, Kathy Veroni has been inducted into four halls of
16
fame, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA),
17
Illinois State University Athletics, Western Illinois
18
University Athletics, and the Illinois chapter of USA
19
Softball; and

20

WHEREAS, Kathy Veroni published Coaching Fastpitch

Softball Successfully in 1998 and was a contributing author to
2
The Softball Coaching Bible in 2002; and

3

WHEREAS, Kathy Veroni also founded and coached the Macomb
4
Magic softball team, where she won many additional awards and
5
mentored countless college and high school students; and

6

WHEREAS, Kathy Veroni's leadership extended to multiple
7
positions in the NFCA, including president, vice president of
8
membership, and past president; and

9

WHEREAS, Kathy Veroni is also a master gardener for local
10
gardens such as The Grow Illinois Food Together (GIFT) garden
11
in Macomb, which has provided thousands of pounds of food
12
annually to the Macomb community; therefore, be it

13

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15
we congratulate Kathy Veroni on being awarded the 2025
16
Humanitarian Award from the National Fastpitch Coaches
17
Association; and be it further

18

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19
presented to Kathy Veroni as as a symbol of our respect and
20
esteem.
