HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jimmie
4
Ray "Jabo" Goggins of Somerset, Kentucky, who passed away on
5
November 2, 2025; and

6

WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins was born to Dorothy E. Goggins on
7
November 25, 1945; he attended the Bourbon School and then
8
Ferguson High School, where he completed the eleventh grade;
9
he enlisted in the United States Army in 1967, from which he
10
was honorably discharged; he married Mary Holts Goggins in
11
Somerset, Kentucky on November 25, 1978; and

12

WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins was employed by Magna Graphic in
13
Lexington, Kentucky until 1979; he moved to Somerset, Kentucky
14
in 1979, where he was worked as a steelman at the Somerset
15
Refinery until February 2010; and

16

WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins was a member of Mt. Olive
17
Missionary Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a deacon
18
on November 18, 2001; and

19

WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins enjoyed playing pool, horse shoes,
20
and golf, horseback riding, completing yard work, and watching
21
sports; and

WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins was preceded in death by his
2
mother; his brothers, Joe Arnold and George Green; one niece;
3
and one nephew; and

4

WHEREAS, Jimmie Goggins is survived by his wife of 47
5
years, Mary; his children, Kendra Carter and Keith (Staci)
6
Goggins; three grandchildren; one special granddaughter; his
7
nephew, who was raised as his son, and his family; one
8
great-grandson; his siblings, Richard Alexander, Carol Green,
9
and Ricky (Amy) Goggins; his special family friend, Joe
10
McKinley; and a host of nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

11

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13
we mourn the passing of Jimmie Ray "Jabo" Goggins and extend
14
our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
15
knew and loved him; and be it further

16

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17
presented to the family of Jimmie Goggins as an expression of
18
our deepest sympathy.
