HOUSE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to commend EMMAUS for its efforts to end
4
human trafficking and its support of male victims; and
5
WHEREAS, EMMAUS is a Christian, non-profit organization
6
committed to ending human trafficking and sexual exploitation,
7
with the unique and vital focus on supporting male-identifying
8
victims and survivors; and
9
WHEREAS, EMMAUS provides critical outreach, advocacy, and
10
restorative services to men and boys who are often overlooked
11
in the broader anti-trafficking movement, despite comprising
12
over one-third of those exploited in the sex trade; and
13
WHEREAS, Fewer than 2% of anti-trafficking organizations
14
in the United States offer programs specifically for male
15
survivors, making EMMAUS a rare and essential voice for this
16
underserved population; and
17
WHEREAS, EMMAUS operates with a mission to support male
18
survivors through their journey out of the sex trade and into
19
freedom, guided by values that include affirming human
20
dignity, empowering survivors, building inclusive communities,
21
and practicing transparency and perseverance; and

WHEREAS, EMMAUS' work is rooted in compassion, faith, and
2
a commitment to justice, offering trauma-informed care, street
3
outreach, and long-term support to help survivors rebuild
4
their lives; and
5
WHEREAS, EMMAUS has demonstrated a long-standing
6
commitment to this cause, with over 35 years of service and a
7
growing impact in the Chicago area and beyond; therefore, be
8
it
9
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11
we commend EMMAUS for its unwavering dedication to ending
12
human trafficking and for supporting male survivors of
13
exploitation; and be it further
14
RESOLVED, That we commend EMMAUS for working toward its
15
mission to validate the worth of every individual, reject
16
stigma, and create a world where all survivors, regardless of
17
gender, can find healing, hope, and a path to wholeness; and be
18
it further
19
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20
delivered to EMMAUS as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
