HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate the Sauk Trail Chapter of
4
the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
5
(NSDAR) on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and

6

WHEREAS, The Sauk Trail Chapter of NSDAR was organized
7
when 13 members met with Illinois State Regent Anna May
8
Bowman, wife of Frank J. Bowman, in the Chicago Heights home of
9
Anna Clayton on July 15, 1926; and

10

WHEREAS, The charter members of the Sauk Trail Chapter of
11
NSDAR chose its name in honor of the historical significance
12
of the Sauk Trail and the initial settlers who chose to build
13
their first wilderness homes along the trail; and

14

WHEREAS, Meetings of the Sauk Trail Chapter of NSDAR were
15
originally held in the homes of members before being moved to
16
libraries or churches in the area in the 1980s; and

17

WHEREAS, Members of the Sauk Trail Chapter of NSDAR
18
continue to support NSDAR goals of education, historic
19
preservation, and patriotism on the national, state, and local
20
levels; and

WHEREAS, The Sauk Trail Chapter of NSDAR donates food,
2
clothing, books, funds, and services to the community,
3
including local schools and libraries, veterans and
4
active-duty service men and women, first responders, Otto
5
Veterans Square, the Veterans' Home at Manteno, the Glenwood
6
School for Boys and Girls, ANEW: Building Beyond Violence and
7
Abuse, Chicago Standdown, Honor Flight Chicago, and Wreaths
8
Across America; and

9

WHEREAS, The Sauk Trail Chapter of NSDAR has shown by its
10
actions and good works for the past 100 years that it is a
11
significant asset to the community, providing leadership and
12
funding projects that have greatly benefited the area and its
13
citizens; therefore, be it

14

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16
we congratulate the Sauk Trail Chapter of the National Society
17
Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) on achieving its
18
100th anniversary on July 15, 2026.
