HOUSE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate St. Andrews Golf &
4
Country Club of West Chicago on the occasion of its 100th
5
anniversary in operation; and
6
WHEREAS, Established by Frank Hough and partners as a
7
public, 36-hole golf facility in 1926, St. Andrews has been
8
owned and operated by the Jemsek-Hinckley family for five
9
generations, making it the oldest family-owned golf course in
10
Illinois; and
11
WHEREAS, From 1938 to 2002, St. Andrews was owned by Joe
12
Jemsek, who pioneered the "country club for the day" model by
13
introducing premium services, founded golf TV shows, was named
14
PGA Professional of the Year in 1991, and was inducted into the
15
Illinois Golf Hall of Fame; and
16
WHEREAS, St. Andrews has been owned and operated by fourth
17
and fifth generation members of the Jemsek-Hinckley family
18
since 2002; the golf course is currently led by Chairperson
19
Marianne Jemsek-Hinckley, and other notable long-term and
20
current employees include Head Professional Dave Erickson, Pro
21
Shop and Marketing Manager Michelle Bockrath, Starter Butch
22
Hanson, Head Ranger Dennis Maher, and General Manager Bill

Crouse; and

WHEREAS, St. Andrews has deep ties to notable figures in
3
the golf community, including World Golf Hall of Famer and
4
50-year Head Professional Patty Berg, multiple PGA Tour winner
5
Ray Floyd, and Illinois Golf Hall of Famer Frank Jemsek, who
6
also founded multiple beginner golf schools; and
7
WHEREAS, St. Andrews has been home to the St. Andrews
8
Practice Center since its opening in 1990; the practice center
9
has been ranked in the top 50 in the United States and offers a
10
number of amenities, including TopTracer technology, heated
11
stations, and banquet rooms for over 400 guests that are open
12
364 days per year; and
13
WHEREAS, St. Andrews has entertained approximately 6
14
million rounds of golf since 1926, and it regularly hosts
15
charity events and high school teams; the golf course has also
16
been the recipient of numerous accolades, including receiving
17
the National Golf Foundation Family Award and being named the
18
Daily Herald's Best Public Course and Driving Range in 2024
19
and 2025; and
20
WHEREAS, St. Andrews employs approximately 200 seasonal
21
staff, many of whom are long-term and multigenerational staff,
22
and they continue to support the golf course's mission to

provide quality golf and dining to enhance Chicagoland
2
community life; therefore, be it
3
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5
we congratulate St. Andrews Golf & Country Club on achieving
6
its 100th anniversary in operation in 2026; and be it further
7
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8
presented to St. Andrews Golf & Country Club as an expression
9
of our esteem and respect.
