HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kristen
4
Pierce-Sherrod, chief executive officer (CEO) of Harold's
5
Chicken and co-founder of the Chicago Children Equestrian
6
Center; and

7

WHEREAS, Kristen Pierce-Sherrod, the daughter of Harold's
8
Chicken founders Harold and Hilda Pierce, was raised in
9
Beaverville; and

10

WHEREAS, Kristen Pierce-Sherrod continued her parents'
11
legacy, becoming CEO of Harold's Chicken in 2000; during her
12
more than 20 years at the helm, she was credited for retaining
13
the business's close ties to Chicago's culture and identity,
14
maintaining the brand's reputation as a Chicago staple, while
15
expanding the regional brand into a national chain of
16
restaurants located across eight states; and

17

WHEREAS, Kristen Pierce-Sherrod and her husband, Vincent
18
Sherrod, co-founded the non-profit Chicago Children Equestrian
19
Center in 2021, providing underserved and vulnerable youth
20
with the opportunity to learn horsemanship as well as lessons
21
of self-love and responsibility through equine therapy; and

WHEREAS, Kristen Pierce-Sherrod was a phenomenal business
2
woman who will be remembered for her prolific impact on
3
Harold's Chicken, the City of Chicago, and the State of
4
Illinois; therefore, be it

5

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7
we mourn the passing of Kristen Pierce-Sherrod, chief
8
executive officer (CEO) of Harold's Chicken and co-founder of
9
the Chicago Children Equestrian Center, and extend our sincere
10
condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11
her; and be it further

12

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13
presented to the family of Kristen Pierce-Sherrod as an
14
expression of our deepest sympathy.
