HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to commend Mika Baugher on her decades of
4
service to the people of Illinois, to multiple House Speakers,
5
and to this entire chamber; and

6

WHEREAS, Mika Baugher initially joined the House staff as
7
a receptionist in the Leadership Office, where her talent and
8
proficiency soon led her to the position of Executive
9
Assistant to the Speaker, a role she performed under two House
10
Speakers for more than two decades; and

11

WHEREAS, Mika Baugher's professional excellence has made
12
her an institution in the House, serving as the Speaker's
13
Capitol and district scheduler, managing chaotic session days,
14
effortlessly navigating every task, and remembering every
15
detail; and

16

WHEREAS, Mika Baugher has regularly been the first in the
17
office in the morning and the last to leave in the evening,
18
despite a 40-mile daily commute from her hometown of
19
Litchfield; and

20

WHEREAS, Even while navigating the rapidly changing
21
environment of the House during session, Mika Baugher has

consistently sought to make everything easier for those around
2
her, giving of herself without asking colleagues for anything
3
in return; and

4

WHEREAS, Mika Baugher has been noted by the members of the
5
House and those working around the Capitol for being a person
6
who will go to whatever lengths to get their meetings
7
scheduled and to help them achieve their goals while also
8
remaining endlessly attentive to the many demands of the
9
Speaker's schedule; and

10

WHEREAS, Even while handling her many duties, Mika Baugher
11
has maintained a responsibility for the health and well-being
12
of everyone in her office, going above and beyond to care for
13
staff; and

14

WHEREAS, Through Mika Baugher's kindness, approachability,
15
and generosity with her time, she has become a go-to person for
16
all people on all topics in the House; and

17

WHEREAS, Mika Baugher's commitment to the operation of the
18
House has been matched only by her commitment to her husband,
19
Chris Baugher, and their sons, Owen and Peyton; and

20

WHEREAS, Mika Baugher has been an invaluable asset to
21
House members over the course of her service, and she has

supported, mentored, and helped the professional growth of
2
hundreds of staffers throughout her tenure; and

3

WHEREAS, Mika Baugher's tireless commitment to those
4
around her has been indispensable in making all of the work of
5
this chamber possible, and everyone who has worked alongside
6
her are grateful for all she has done to make everyone and
7
everything around her better; therefore, be it

8

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10
we commend and thank Mika Baugher for her many years of
11
committed service to the Illinois General Assembly and the
12
people of the State of Illinois, and we wish her continued
13
success in her future endeavors; and be it further

14

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15
presented to Mika Baugher as a symbol of our esteem and
16
respect.
