HOUSE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Nevin Erbsen on being
4
awarded the 2025 American STAR in Agricultural Placement by
5
the National Future Farmers of America (FFA) at the 98th
6
National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana; and
7
WHEREAS, The American STAR Awards represent the best among
8
thousands of American FFA Degree recipients, recognizing FFA
9
members who have developed outstanding agricultural skills and
10
competencies by completing a Supervised Agricultural
11
Experience (SAE) program; and
12
WHEREAS, The American STAR in Agricultural Placement is
13
awarded to the FFA member with the top agricultural placement
14
SAE in the nation, an individual who demonstrates outstanding
15
achievement, active FFA participation, and an exemplary
16
scholastic record; and
17
WHEREAS, Nevin Erbsen, a member of the Eastland FFA in
18
Lanark, is currently a junior at Iowa State University in
19
Ames, Iowa, where he majors in agriculture systems technology
20
with a minor in agronomy; and
21
WHEREAS, Nevin Erbsen's SAE includes working for four

agricultural businesses throughout his educational journey;
2
and
3
WHEREAS, Nevin Erbsen works on his family's 100-cow dairy,
4
where he milks cows, cares for heifers and IVF-born calves,
5
and prepares show cattle for competition; he also works at
6
Gunderson Dairy Farms, a 500-cow operation, where he does
7
equipment maintenance, KPI monitoring for robotic milking, and
8
ration adjustments to improve herd performance; and
9
WHEREAS, While attending Iowa State University, Nevin
10
Erbsen works at Chad West of West Acres, operating tillage
11
equipment, helping with the harvest, and performing machinery
12
maintenance; he is additionally employed by Kimberley Ag Sales
13
and Service, working with equipment from multiple major
14
brands; and
15
WHEREAS, Over time, Nevin Erbsen's roles have grown to
16
include management responsibilities, problem-solving, and
17
decision-making across all parts of these businesses while
18
simultaneously compiling experience to help curate a future
19
where he can lead agriculture into the coming years with
20
automation; therefore, be it
21
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
22
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

we congratulate Nevin Erbsen on being awarded the 2025
2
American STAR in Agricultural Placement by the National Future
3
Farmers of America (FFA), and we wish him continued success in
4
his endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6
presented to Nevin Erbsen as a symbol of our esteem and
7
respect.
