HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to recognize the extraordinary service
4
and sacrifice of Illinois' first responders and the
5
organizations that steadfastly support them and their
6
families; and

7

WHEREAS, The 100 Club of Illinois was founded on August
8
27, 1966 and has served as a vital resource for first
9
responders and their families throughout the State of Illinois
10
for 60 years; and

11

WHEREAS, The mission of the 100 Club of Illinois is to
12
provide resources, multiple forms of financial assistance,
13
access to training, and moral support to the families of first
14
responders who are killed in the line of duty, as well as to
15
actively serving first responders across Illinois; and

16

WHEREAS, The 100 Club of Illinois serves all sworn
17
federal, state, county, and local first responders stationed
18
in Illinois, ensuring that those who protect our communities
19
have access to support regardless of jurisdiction; and

20

WHEREAS, The 100 Club of Illinois is also the largest
21
provider of mental health training for first responders in the

State of Illinois, helping to strengthen resilience, wellness,
2
and preparedness among those who routinely face trauma in the
3
course of their duties; and

4

WHEREAS, Since its inception, the 100 Club of Illinois has
5
provided benefits to 330 families of fallen public safety
6
professionals, with total assistance exceeding $17 million in
7
financial and emotional support; and

8

WHEREAS, First responders place themselves in harm's way
9
every day to protect the safety, health, and well-being of the
10
people of Illinois, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice
11
in service to their communities; and

12

WHEREAS, The bravery and sacrifice of fallen first
13
responders should never be forgotten, and the public should
14
honor those who serve and the families they leave behind; and

15

WHEREAS, August 27 holds special significance as the
16
founding date of the 100 Club of Illinois and marks six decades
17
of unwavering commitment to honoring fallen first responders
18
and supporting their families; therefore, be it

19

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21
we declare August 27, 2026 as Hero Day in Illinois to recognize

the bravery, dedication, and sacrifices of the first
2
responders who gave their lives in the line of duty and to
3
honor and support the families that they leave behind; and be
4
it further

5

RESOLVED, That Hero Day in Illinois shall serve as a
6
reminder to never forget the heroes we have lost, to express
7
gratitude to those who continue to serve, and to reaffirm our
8
commitment to supporting first responder families and the
9
organizations that stand beside them; and be it further

10

RESOLVED, That we commend the 100 Club of Illinois on the
11
occasion of its 60th anniversary and recognize its
12
extraordinary contributions to first responders and their
13
families across the State of Illinois; and be it further

14

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15
presented to the 100 Club of Illinois as an expression of
16
respect, appreciation, and enduring gratitude.
