HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate the Springfield Park
4
District as it celebrates its 125th anniversary, marking more
5
than a century of dedicated service to the residents of
6
Springfield and the State of Illinois; and

7

WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District was established on
8
February 8, 1900, demonstrating an early commitment by the
9
community to preserving green spaces and providing
10
recreational opportunities for its citizens; and

11

WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District, over the past 125
12
years, has grown to encompass numerous parks, facilities, and
13
recreational programs that enhance the quality of life for
14
thousands of residents and visitors; and

15

WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District maintains and
16
operates parks, playgrounds, a swimming pool, a zoo, a
17
carillon, recreation centers, golf courses, and nature areas
18
that serve people of all ages and abilities; and

19

WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District boasts dedicated
20
trustees, staff, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to
21
preserve natural resources, promote healthy lifestyles, and

create gathering spaces that strengthen community bonds; and

WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District has played a vital
3
role in preserving local history, protecting the environment,
4
and providing affordable recreational opportunities that
5
contribute to the physical, mental, and social well-being of
6
its citizens; and

7

WHEREAS, The Springfield Park District remains steadfast
8
in its mission to serve the public good through economic
9
challenges, changing demographics, and evolving community
10
needs and to continue serving future generations with the same
11
dedication and excellence as it has; therefore, be it

12

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14
we congratulate the Springfield Park District as it celebrates
15
its 125th anniversary, marking more than a century of
16
dedicated service to the residents of Springfield and the
17
State of Illinois; and be it further

18

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19
presented to the president of the Springfield Park District as
20
a symbol of our respect and esteem.
