HOUSE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Treatment Alternatives
4
for Stronger Communities (TASC) on the occasion of its 50th
5
anniversary; and
6
WHEREAS, TASC is an Illinois-based nonprofit organization
7
founded in 1976 to reduce justice involvement and its
8
consequences by providing coordinated, evidence-based services
9
to individuals with behavioral health and social service
10
needs; and
11
WHEREAS, TASC operates at the intersection of health and
12
the criminal legal system and is a valued and trusted partner
13
to both systems, delivering interventions that promote
14
recovery, reduce recidivism, strengthen families, and enhance
15
public safety; and
16
WHEREAS, TASC is licensed as a Designated Program under
17
Illinois statute and administrative rule, authorizing it to
18
conduct court-approved assessments, referrals, case
19
management, monitoring, and service coordination, in
20
compliance with state standards governing professional
21
practice, accountability, data reporting, and quality
22
assurance; and

WHEREAS, TASC provides a continuum of services, including
2
criminal justice diversion, drug and specialty court support,
3
reentry and community supervision services, substance use
4
disorder treatment coordination, family and youth intervention
5
programs, Specialized Case Management™, substance use disorder
6
treatment, and housing stabilization and supportive housing
7
navigation; and
8
WHEREAS, TASC has expanded its service delivery through
9
deflection, which redirects individuals away from arrest and
10
deeper system involvement by connecting them to treatment,
11
behavioral health services, housing resources, and
12
community-based supports at the earliest point of law
13
enforcement contact; and
14
WHEREAS, TASC, through its Center for Health and Justice,
15
provides state, national, and international leadership in
16
research, policy development, training, and technical
17
assistance, translating evidence into effective justice and
18
health system practices; and
19
WHEREAS, TASC addresses key social drivers of health,
20
including poverty, trauma, housing instability, and access to
21
care, through individualized and system-level strategies that
22
improve long-term outcomes for participants and communities;

WHEREAS, The impact of TASC is made possible by its
3
dedicated staff, whose professionalism, expertise, and
4
commitment to service support thousands of individuals each
5
year in achieving recovery, stability, and successful
6
community reintegration; therefore, be it
7
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9
we congratulate Treatment Alternatives for Stronger
10
Communities (TASC) on its 50th anniversary, thank TASC for its
11
significant contributions to justice reform, public health,
12
and community well-being in Illinois, and wish the
13
organization continued success in advancing effective,
14
accountable, and compassionate alternatives to incarceration;
15
and be it further
16
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17
presented to Treatment Alternatives for Stronger Communities
18
as an expression of our esteem and respect.
