HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, A delegation of members from the Illinois
3
chapters of The Links, Incorporated will attend the
4
organization's annual Illinois Links Legislative Day at the
5
Capitol on March 24 through March 25, 2026; and

6

WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is an international,
7
not-for-profit corporation established in 1946 for the
8
purposes of education, civic engagement, and cultural
9
enrichment; and

10

WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated has a membership of more
11
than 17,000 professional women in 303 chapters located in 41
12
states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the
13
Bahamas, and the United Kingdom, who are influential
14
decision-makers and opinion leaders; and

15

WHEREAS, Members of The Links, Incorporated provide over
16
one million service hours annually across five primary
17
programmatic areas, known as the facets, which include
18
Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services,
19
International Trends and Services, and Health and Human
20
Services; and

21

WHEREAS, The mission of The Links, Incorporated, "Friends

Transforming Communities Through Service", is realized daily
2
through its impactful programs and service initiatives; and

3

WHEREAS, The 2026 Illinois Links Legislative Day at the
4
Capitol will focus on critical health issues, particularly
5
kidney disease, home dialysis, and economic disparities; and

6

WHEREAS, Members of The Links, Incorporated will engage in
7
discussions with legislators on matters of health and economic
8
sustainability, topics of particular importance to the
9
organization; and

10

WHEREAS, The Central Area of The Links, Incorporated is
11
comprised of 3,900 influential women who provide impactful
12
programming in 73 communities throughout 17 states in the
13
Midwest, known as "the Heart of Linkdom"; and

14

WHEREAS, Central Area members contribute more than 194,000
15
documented service hours annually by engaging external
16
organizations and community partnerships; and

17

WHEREAS, The Central Area is represented by its Illinois
18
chapters, which include the Central Illinois Chapter, the
19
Chicago Chapter, the Gateway Chapter, the Harbor Lites
20
Chapter, the Hoffman Estates Chapter, the Lake Shore Chapter,
21
the North Shore Chapter, the Quad Cities Chapter, the South

Suburban Chicago Chapter, the Tri-County Chapter, the Windy
2
City Chapter, and the West Towns Chapter; and

WHEREAS, The Central Area is further represented by
4
Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton, along with a number of
5
Illinois General Assembly members, including Representatives
6
Rita Mayfield and Kimberly Du Buclet, who are active members,
7
Representative Justin Slaughter, who is an Heir-o-Link, and
8
Senator Christopher Belt, who is a Connecting Link; and

9

WHEREAS, The 2026 Illinois Links Legislative Day at the
10
Capitol encompasses the theme of "Spotlight Illinois:
11
Strengthening Our Foundation for the Future"; therefore, be it

12

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14
we declare March 25, 2026 as Links Day in the State of
15
Illinois; and be it further

16

RESOLVED, That we congratulate Director Sheila R. Brown of
17
the Central Area of The Links, Incorporated and its members on
18
their unwavering commitment to service; and be it further

19

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20
presented to Central Area Director Sheila R. Brown as a symbol
21
of our respect and esteem.
