HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
4
Christopher J. "Chris" Clark, the former Mayor of Harvey; and

5

WHEREAS, Chris Clark was born to Melanie Whitaker and
6
Clarence Clark in Harvey on June 23, 1969; in his youth, he
7
worked professionally in the voiceover industry; he graduated
8
from Chicago State University before pursuing his law degree
9
at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota; and

10

WHEREAS, Chris Clark built a distinguished career as an
11
attorney and public servant, ultimately serving the City of
12
Harvey as both alderperson and mayor; he was deeply proud of
13
his hometown, referring to Harvey as "the best place on
14
Earth", and he remained committed to giving back to his
15
community and advocating for progress beyond his time in
16
office; and

17

WHEREAS, Chris Clark recently launched a YouTube channel,
18
Behind the Bars, where he explored the intersection of music
19
and law; his channel reflected his unique personality and
20
signature style of glasses, a classic t-shirt, and a bow tie;
21
and

WHEREAS, Chris Clark enjoyed watching boxing and films,
2
attending musicals, spending meaningful time with loved ones,
3
and listening to music, especially Prince; and

4

WHEREAS, Chris Clark, beyond his public roles, was a
5
devoted son, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather whose
6
love for family was central to his life; he will be remembered
7
for his wisdom, kind heart, unwavering integrity, and selfless
8
devotion to others; and

9

WHEREAS, Chris Clark was preceded in death by his brother,
10
Dion Clark; and

11

WHEREAS, Chris Clark is survived by his parents; his
12
children, Jaimie, Erica (Alfred), and Kristen (Johnny); eight
13
grandchildren; his siblings, Dino (Angela), Layarda (Keith),
14
Clarence, Ebony (Damien), Lafesa (Kevin), Exxie (Aleshia),
15
Robert, Naomi, Michael, Lydia, and Freddie; and many nieces,
16
nephews, relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

17

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19
we mourn the passing of Christopher J. "Chris" Clark, the
20
former Mayor of Harvey, and extend our sincere condolences to
21
his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
22
further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

presented to the family of Chris Clark as an expression of our

deepest sympathy.
