HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to recognize the life and career of
4
Sergeant Major William G. Bainbridge of the United States
5
Army; and

6

WHEREAS, Sergeant Major Bainbridge, born in Galesburg,
7
dedicated his life to the service of the United States Army,
8
exemplifying the highest standards of leadership, integrity,
9
and commitment; and

10

WHEREAS, Throughout his exemplary military career,
11
Sergeant Major Bainbridge served with honor in three wars,
12
World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, while providing critical
13
guidance, mentorship, and support to soldiers, noncommissioned
14
officers, and commanders alike; and

15

WHEREAS, Sergeant Major Bainbridge's tenure as the sixth
16
sergeant major of the United States Army marked a period of
17
significant advancement and advocacy for the enlisted force,
18
fostering improvements in training, professional development,
19
and quality of life for soldiers and their families; and

20

WHEREAS, Sergeant Major Bainbridge's unwavering dedication
21
to the principles of duty, honor, and country earned the

respect of his peers, subordinates, and the nation he so

faithfully served; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Major Bainbridge's legacy continues to

inspire future generations of soldiers and is preserved

through museum exhibits, military memorials, and the enduring
6
impact of his leadership; therefore, be it

7

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9
we recognize the life and career of Sergeant Major William G.
10
Bainbridge of the United States Army, who provided
11
extraordinary service in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam
12
while making lasting contributions to the United States Army
13
and the nation.
