HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives wishes to
3
commend The Baby Bank on the occasion of its one millionth
4
diaper distributed to families in Boone and Winnebago
5
counties; and

6

WHEREAS, The Baby Bank was recognized with the 2024
7
Community Champion Award by the Community Foundation of
8
Northern Illinois for its exceptional local efforts and
9
impact; and

10

WHEREAS, The Baby Bank has increased the number of diapers
11
it has distributed every year, giving away more than 250,000
12
diapers in 2025 while also expanding to offer other infant
13
necessities such as baby wipes, rash cream, and shampoo; and

14

WHEREAS, The Baby Bank was founded by Anna Pivoras in 2018
15
with the mission to create a healthier community by providing
16
hygiene supplies to children in need; and

17

WHEREAS, One in two U.S. families with young children
18
struggle to afford clean diapers for their baby; and

19

WHEREAS, The National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN) Diaper
20
Check 2023 found that one in four U.S. parents/caregivers

experiencing diaper need reported missing an average of 5.1
2
days of work or school in the past month because they lacked
3
the diapers needed to leave their child at a childcare
4
facility; and

5

WHEREAS, Diapers cost the average family approximately
6
$100 monthly per child, and programs such as WIC and SNAP do
7
not cover the purchase of diapers for low-income families; and

8

WHEREAS, The Baby Bank has partnered with churches, food
9
pantries, schools, domestic violence prevention organizations,
10
and many others to meet families with young children where
11
they are and distribute diapers into the community; and

12

WHEREAS, The Baby Bank's commitment to supplying
13
essentials to our children and supporting parents/guardians as
14
they strive to provide care and compassion is laudable, while
15
its impactful work in distributing one million diapers over
16
the last eight years is a fitting milestone for celebration;
17
therefore, be it

18

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20
we commend The Baby Bank and all of its volunteers on the
21
occasion of its one millionth diaper distributed, and we wish
22
the organization continued success in addressing the essential

needs of so many families in its communities; and be it further

2

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3
presented to The Baby Bank as an expression of our esteem and
4
respect.
