HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Keith
4
Leo Cain of Princeton, who passed away on April 3, 2026; and

5

WHEREAS, Keith Cain was born to Leo and Della (Kaiser)
6
Cain in Spring Valley; he graduated from LaMoille High School
7
in 1965; he married Connie Martin in 1967, and she preceded him
8
in death; he married Julia Cain in 1981; he served in the
9
United States Army and the United States Army Reserve, and he
10
was later honored with a Quilt of Valor; and

11

WHEREAS, Keith Cain owned and operated Cain Trucking in
12
LaMoille; he later co-owned Flowers by Julia and the former
13
Surroundings, both in Princeton; he also served as manager of
14
Princeton Redi Mix, now known as Princeton Redi Crete, before
15
he and his sons bought the business in 2019; and

16

WHEREAS, Keith Cain's commitment to service extended
17
deeply into the wider community, and he served as a
18
commissioner and the Mayor of the City of Princeton for 19
19
years; and

20

WHEREAS, Keith Cain was actively involved in First
21
Lutheran Church, where he served as sitting president of the

church council; he also served on the LaMoille School Board
2
and the Bureau County Board; he was a member of the LaMoille
3
Fire Department and a charter member of the Malden Lions Club,
4
where he received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award; he also
5
supported the Starved Rock Community Foundation, the Arukah
6
Institute of Healing, and the Bureau County Day Care Board;
7
and

8

WHEREAS, Keith Cain's life was firmly rooted in service to
9
his country, his faith, his community, and above all, his
10
family; he will be remembered for encouraging, supporting, and
11
believing in people through offering guidance, opportunity,
12
and a steady presence; and

13

WHEREAS, Keith Cain was preceded in death by his father;
14
his mother, Della (Kaiser) Cain-Querciagrossa; his stepfather,
15
Jack Querciagrossa; his brother, Danny Cain; his
16
father-in-law, Leonard Martin; his parents-in-law, Floyd and
17
Marilyn Pinter; and one niece and one nephew; and

18

WHEREAS, Keith Cain is survived by his wife of 44 years,
19
Julia; his sons, Eric (Jennifer) Cain, Marc (Kelly) Cain, and
20
Kyle (Kari) Cain; his mother-in-law, Norma Martin; his
21
stepsiblings, Jay Querciagrossa, Mary Jo (Patrick) Barry, and
22
Susan Kaye (Jim) Knoblauch; several siblings-in-law; eight
23
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces

and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
3
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4
we mourn the passing of Keith Leo Cain and extend our sincere
5
condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
6
him; and be it further

7

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8
presented to the family of Keith Cain as an expression of our
9
deepest sympathy.
