HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Rabbi Andrea London on
4
the occasion of her retirement from Beth Emet The Free
5
Synagogue; and

6

WHEREAS, Rabbi London has served with distinction as rabbi
7
of Beth Emet The Free Synagogue in Evanston for 25 years,
8
guiding the congregation with intellectual rigor, spiritual
9
depth, and an unwavering commitment to justice; and

10

WHEREAS, Rabbi London has been a prominent voice in
11
Illinois for human rights, interfaith partnership, and civic
12
engagement, inspiring residents across the state to pursue
13
equity, compassion, and meaningful action in the public
14
sphere; and

15

WHEREAS, Rabbi London, through her teaching, pastoral
16
care, and community leadership, has supported individuals and
17
families at life's most significant moments, offering wisdom,
18
comfort, and a steadfast presence that has enriched countless
19
lives; and

20

WHEREAS, Under Rabbi London's leadership, Beth Emet The
21
Free Synagogue has flourished as a center of Jewish learning,

social responsibility, and community connection, embodying

values that reflect the highest ideals of the State of
3
Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Rabbi London's retirement marks the culmination
5
of a remarkable chapter of service and the beginning of a new

season filled with continued learning, reflection, and
7
contribution to the broader civic and moral landscape of our
8
state; therefore, be it

9

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11
we congratulate Rabbi Andrea London on the occasion of her
12
retirement from Beth Emet The Free Synagogue, and we wish her
13
the best in all her future endeavours; and be it further

14

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15
presented to Rabbi London as a symbol of our respect and
16
esteem.
