HOUSE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Peter
4
James Culver, who passed away on March 17, 2026; and
5
WHEREAS, Peter Culver was born in Elgin on April 14, 1950;
6
he enlisted in the United States Army Signal Corps as a
7
communication specialist, serving in Germany; and
8
WHEREAS, Peter Culver was committed to union labor
9
relations and proudly held a 50-year card for the masonry as a
10
member of Local 27 and Local 21; he strove for fairness and the
11
betterment of working conditions for everyone; and
12
WHEREAS, Peter Culver gave years of faithful service as an
13
election judge in McHenry County to help make democracy real
14
one voter at a time; he was passionate about human rights and
15
engaged with a variety of community organizations, first in
16
Elgin and then in McHenry, reflecting his belief in giving
17
back and supporting others; and
18
WHEREAS, Peter Culver was devoted to his family and was a
19
loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend; he enjoyed
20
fishing, canoeing, hiking, and daily adventures in the park
21
with his dog; he loved travel and had a fondness for exploring

small towns and national parks; his collection of amusing hats
2
was a trademark of his playful spirit; and
3
WHEREAS, Peter Culver embraced life with enthusiasm and
4
joy and will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kind heart,
5
and selfless actions; he believed that those without integrity
6
have nothing; and
7
WHEREAS, Peter Culver was preceded in death by his
8
siblings, Linda Curry and Bob Culver; and
9
WHEREAS, Peter Culver is survived by his wife, Vickie; his
10
sons, Tyler (Amy Timms) and Ben (Jennifer O'Connell); his
11
grandchildren, Adam and Teagan Culver and Sidney and Bella
12
Timms; his sisters, Judy Idstein, Katherine Keither, and Sally
13
Schoonoven; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
14
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16
we mourn the passing of Peter James Culver and extend our
17
sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
18
and loved him; and be it further
19
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20
presented to the family of Peter Culver as an expression of our
21
deepest sympathy.
