HOUSE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Aaron Mercier on the
4
occasion of his retirement after more than 32 years of
5
distinguished service in the field of education; and
6
WHEREAS, Aaron Mercier has dedicated his professional life
7
to the service of students, families, educators, and
8
communities throughout Northwest Illinois and beyond,
9
including in Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri; and
10
WHEREAS, Aaron Mercier's career in education has included
11
roles as a classroom teacher, a coach, an alternative
12
education instructor, an elementary school principal, and an
13
assistant regional superintendent of schools, demonstrating a
14
steadfast commitment to student success and educational
15
excellence; and
16
WHEREAS, Aaron Mercier was first appointed as Regional
17
Superintendent of Schools for Illinois Regional Office of
18
Education No. 8, serving Carroll, Jo Daviess, and Stephenson
19
counties, in 2009; he was subsequently elected to that office
20
in the general election on November 6, 2012, faithfully
21
serving the citizens of Northwest Illinois for more than 14
22
years; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure as regional superintendent,
2
Aaron Mercier provided leadership, oversight, and support to
3
school districts, educators, and students across a diverse and
4
predominantly rural region, strengthening educational systems
5
and expanding opportunities for learners of all backgrounds;
6
and
7
WHEREAS, In addition to his administrative leadership,
8
Aaron Mercier distinguished himself as a state
9
championship-winning tennis coach, leading student-athletes to
10
success while instilling discipline, teamwork, and character
11
in those he mentored; and
12
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Aaron Mercier has been
13
known for his integrity, professionalism, and unwavering
14
dedication to public service, earning the respect and
15
admiration of colleagues, students, and community members
16
alike; and
17
WHEREAS, Aaron Mercier's legacy will endure through the
18
countless lives he has influenced, the educators he has
19
mentored, and the communities he has strengthened; therefore,
20
be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2
we congratulate Aaron Mercier on his retirement and commend
3
him for his more than three decades of outstanding service in
4
the field of education to the State of Illinois; and be it
5
further
6
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7
presented to Aaron Mercier as an expression of our esteem and
8
respect.
