HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Decatur Catholic
4
Athletics 8th grade girls volleyball team, the Bulldogs, on
5
winning the Illinois Elementary School Association 2026 Class
6
2A State Championship; and

7

WHEREAS, The Bulldogs defeated Morrisonville Elementary
8
School in strait sets, winning 26-24 in the first and 25-22 in
9
the second to secure the first ever state title for the Decatur
10
Catholic Athletics organization; and

11

WHEREAS, The Bulldogs compiled a season record of 28 wins
12
and 2 losses on their way to the championship; and

13

WHEREAS, The Bulldogs consist of student-athletes from
14
Holy Family Catholic School and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic
15
School; and

16

WHEREAS, The Bulldogs are led by Head Coach Nick
17
Blackburn, Assistant Coach Kristi Morrell, Bookkeeper Zach
18
Layton, Athletic Director Trevor DuPont, Holy Family Catholic
19
School Principal Bryan Kenney, and Our Lady of Lourdes
20
Catholic School Principal Jenny Brummer; and

WHEREAS, The Bulldogs are Frankie Schook, Kylie Ramey,

Livia Wherley, Leah Payne, Hannah Layton, Reese Robinson,

Tempe Peitz, Lola Douglass, Gretta Morrell, Julianne Brummer,

Katelyn Danko, Phoebe Sloan, Lauren Pena, and Piper Morrell;
5
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8
we congratulate the Decatur Catholic Athletics 8th grade girls
9
volleyball team, the Bulldogs, on winning the Illinois
10
Elementary School Association 2026 Class 2A State
11
Championship, and we wish them many more successful seasons;
12
and be it further

13

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
14
presented to the Bulldogs' players and coaches as a symbol of
15
our respect and esteem.
