HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr.
4
Angela Martin, a legendary gospel radio host, minister, and
5
pillar of faith in the Chicago community; and

6

WHEREAS, Dr. Martin's distinguished media career spanned
7
18 years, during which time she lent her voice to Crawford
8
Broadcasting, Clear Channel, and iHeart Media; she was the
9
celebrated host of Sky High Praise on 106.3 WYBA, a fixture on
10
The John Hannah Morning Show on Inspiration 1390, and a
11
trusted traffic announcer for The Tom Joyner Morning Show on
12
WVAZ 102.7; and

13

WHEREAS, Dr. Martin's excellence in broadcasting was
14
recognized nationally when she received the prestigious
15
Stellar Award for Gospel Announcer of the Year in 2015, a
16
moment she described as a career-defining achievement; she was
17
further honored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. with the
18
Echoes in Excellence Award in media and journalism; and

19

WHEREAS, Dr. Martin spent 23 years in corporate America at
20
AT&T before answering her full-time calling to ministry;
21
demonstrating profound courage, she left the corporate sector
22
behind, stating her desire to have "no boundaries, no

ceilings" in her service to her faith; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Martin was a dedicated intercessor who
3
founded Angela Martin Ministries, Inc., where she pioneered
4
the Onederful Prayer meetings for women of faith; during the
5
challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, she launched P.O.P.-Up
6
(People Online Praying Up), a virtual prayer sanctuary that
7
provided spiritual comfort to thousands; and

8

WHEREAS, Dr. Martin was a gifted author whose book, Let Me
9
Teach You How to Pray Everyday, reached number one on Amazon's
10
New Releases, and her theological contributions earned her an
11
honorary Doctor of Divinity from the WWMI Bible Institute and
12
Seminary in 2023; and

13

WHEREAS, Dr. Martin's legacy lives on through the
14
countless lives she touched with her voice, her prayers, and
15
her unwavering commitment to her faith; therefore, be it

16

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18
we mourn the passing of Dr. Angela Martin and extend our
19
sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
20
and loved her; and be it further

21

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

presented to the family of Dr. Martin as an expression of our
2
deepest sympathy.
