HOUSE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta
3
Sorority, Inc. are internationally recognized organizations
4
founded on the principles of brotherhood, scholarship,
5
service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood respectively; and
6
WHEREAS, These two organizations share a historic and
7
enduring constitutional bond, committed to advancing social
8
justice, civic engagement, and community empowerment; and
9
WHEREAS, Members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and
10
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. have consistently demonstrated
11
leadership in education, public service, health advocacy, and
12
economic development in communities across the State of
13
Illinois and the nation; and
14
WHEREAS, Honorable members of the Illinois House of
15
Representatives, past and present, who have been members of
16
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., include Harold Washington, La
17
Shawn K. Ford, Cyril Nichols, and Michael Crawford; and
18
WHEREAS, On May 19, 2026, members of Phi Beta Sigma
19
Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. will convene
20
at the Illinois State Capitol to engage with policymakers,
21
elevate issues impacting their communities, and promote

informed civic participation; and
2
WHEREAS, This advocacy day reflects the continued
3
commitment of both organizations to uplift underserved
4
communities and to ensure that the voices of those communities
5
are heard in the legislative process; and
6
WHEREAS, The State of Illinois benefits from the civic
7
leadership, volunteerism, and policy advocacy demonstrated by
8
members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta
9
Sorority, Inc.; therefore, be it
10
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12
we commend the efforts of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and
13
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on their advocacy day at the
14
Illinois State Capitol on May 19, 2026; and be it further
15
RESOLVED, That we further commend the members of Phi Beta
16
Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. for
17
their unwavering commitment to service, advocacy, and
18
community advancement; and be it further
19
RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
20
presented to the state, regional, and international leadership
21
of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority,
