Full Text of HR0863 Home Legislation Full Text HR0863 - 104th General Assembly Bill Status Full Text Votes Witness Slips Select Menu Bill Status Full Text Votes Witness Slips Printer Friendly Version Introduced Printer Friendly Version Introduced Open PDF HR0863 LRB104 21682 RMO 37245 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The men and women from Illinois who have 3 honorably served our nation have done so with courage, 4 discipline, and a steadfast commitment to protecting the 5 freedoms we enjoy; and 6 WHEREAS, Illinois veterans from all branches of the Armed 7 Forces, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, 8 Coast Guard, Space Force, and the Illinois National Guard, 9 continue to serve their communities as leaders, mentors, first 10 responders, business owners, and public servants; and 11 WHEREAS, The transition from military service to civilian 12 life presents both opportunities and challenges, making it 13 important to recognize not only the sacrifices made in uniform 14 but also the ongoing needs of Illinois veterans and their 15 families; and 16 WHEREAS, The month of May includes observances such as 17 Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day, providing a meaningful 18 opportunity for the people of Illinois to reflect on service, 19 sacrifice, and continued contributions; therefore, be it 20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 21 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that HR0863 - 2 - LRB104 21682 RMO 37245 r 1 we declare May 2026 as Illinois Military Appreciation Month in 2 the State of Illinois to honor the service, sacrifice, and 3 continued contributions of veterans across our State; and be 4 it further 5 RESOLVED, That citizens, schools, businesses, veterans' 6 organizations, and government entities across Illinois are 7 encouraged to observe Illinois Military Appreciation Month 8 through activities that recognize veterans' ongoing impact, 9 support their successful transition to civilian life, and 10 strengthen connections between veterans and the communities 11 they serve; and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That these observances serve to complement 13 remembrance efforts by recognizing not only those we have lost 14 but also those who continue to serve our State and nation in 15 new ways every day.
