HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Brave men and women from Illinois and across the
3
nation serving in the United States Armed Forces have made the
4
ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation and its cherished
5
freedoms; and

6

WHEREAS, These fallen heroes answered the call to serve
7
with courage and selflessness, laying down their lives to
8
protect the liberties we hold dear; and

9

WHEREAS, The month of June holds deep historical
10
significance to our nation, including the anniversary of
11
D-Day, a defining moment that exemplifies the bravery and
12
sacrifice of American service members; and

13

WHEREAS, Recognizing and honoring those who were killed in
14
action ensures that their sacrifice is never forgotten and
15
serves as a powerful reminder to future generations of the
16
true cost of freedom; and

17

WHEREAS, Establishing a dedicated time of remembrance
18
provides an opportunity for reflection, education, and
19
meaningful support for the families of the fallen; therefore,
20
be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3
we declare June 2026 as Illinois Fallen Heroes Month in the
4
State of Illinois to honor the service and sacrifice of fallen
5
heroes across our State; and be it further

6

RESOLVED, That we encourage citizens, schools, businesses,
7
veterans' organizations, and government entities across the
8
State to observe Illinois Fallen Heroes Month through
9
ceremonies, tributes, and acts of remembrance that honor the
10
legacy and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our
11
nation; and be it further

12

RESOLVED, That we affirm that these observances serve as a
13
solemn counterpart to Illinois Military Appreciation Month,
14
ensuring that we both honor those who continue to serve our
15
communities and remember those who made the ultimate
16
sacrifice.
