HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Safety is the highest priority for the highways
3
and streets of our State; and

4

WHEREAS, The great State of Illinois is proud to be a
5
national leader in motorcycle safety, education, and
6
awareness; and

7

WHEREAS, Motorcycles are a primary, common, and economical
8
means of transportation that reduces fuel consumption and road
9
wear and contributes in a significant way to the relief of
10
traffic and parking congestion; and

11

WHEREAS, It is especially meaningful that the citizens of
12
our State be aware of motorcycles on the roadways and
13
recognize the importance of motorcycle safety; and

14

WHEREAS, The members of A Brotherhood Aimed Toward
15
Education (ABATE) of Illinois, Inc. continually promote
16
motorcycle safety, education, and awareness in high school
17
drivers' education programs and to the general public in our
18
State; the organization has presented motorcycle awareness
19
programs to over 200,000 participants in Illinois over the
20
past 10 years; and

WHEREAS, It is of the upmost importance that all
2
motorcyclists join with ABATE of Illinois, Inc. in actively
3
promoting the safe operation of motorcycles as well as
4
promoting motorcycle safety, education, awareness, and respect
5
of the citizens of our State; and

6

WHEREAS, The motorcyclists of Illinois have contributed
7
extensive volunteerism and money to national and community
8
charitable organizations; and

9

WHEREAS, During the month of May, it is fitting that all
10
roadway users unite in the safe sharing of roadways throughout
11
the great State of Illinois; therefore, be it

12

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14
we declare May of 2026 as Motorcycle Awareness Month in the
15
State of Illinois; and be it further

16

RESOLVED, That we recognize the 39 years of ABATE of
17
Illinois, Inc., the more than 300,00 registered motorcyclists
18
statewide, and the continued role that Illinois serves as a
19
leader in motorcycle safety, education, and awareness; and be
20
it further

21

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

presented to ABATE of Illinois, Inc. as a symbol of our esteem
2
and respect.
