HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to commend Frank J. Mautino on the
4
occasion of his retirement following a decade of distinguished
5
service as Illinois Auditor General; and

6

WHEREAS, Frank Mautino was born in Spring Valley on August
7
7, 1962; he earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from
8
Illinois State University in 1984 and rose to the position of
9
Corporate Brand Manager in his family's beverage distribution
10
business, Mautino Distributing Company, Inc., before beginning
11
a career dedicated to the people of Illinois when he succeeded
12
his late father, Richard Mautino, as a state representative;
13
and

14

WHEREAS, Prior to his appointment as Auditor General,
15
Frank Mautino served with distinction for 24 years in the
16
Illinois House of Representatives, where he held the vital
17
post of Deputy Majority Leader and budget negotiator,
18
championing issues of fiscal responsibility and
19
sustainability; and

20

WHEREAS, Frank Mautino served on the Legislative Audit
21
Commission for 18 years during his legislative tenure,
22
including 12 years as co-chairman, where he reviewed

approximately 2,000 audits and 10,000 findings, developing a
2
deep respect for the oversight role of the legislative branch;
3
and

4

WHEREAS, Since assuming the office of Illinois Auditor
5
General in 2016, Frank Mautino has led the institution with
6
integrity and professionalism, overseeing the completion of
7
hundreds of audits, including 1,200 financial, compliance, and
8
single audits and 200 information technology and cyber
9
security audits; and

10

WHEREAS, Frank Mautino's leadership has safeguarded
11
taxpayer dollars, strengthened accountability, and maintained
12
the Office of the Auditor General's reputation for nonpartisan
13
excellence, ensuring that State agencies operate effectively
14
and in accordance with the law; and

15

WHEREAS, Frank Mautino's 34-year career in State
16
government has spanned the terms of six Governors, seven
17
Comptrollers, and five Treasurers, marking a historic chapter
18
of service and dedication to good governance; and

19

WHEREAS, Throughout his demanding career, Frank Mautino
20
has been supported by his loving family, including his wife,
21
Lena, and their three children, Pietro "Peter" Joseph, Luciana
22
Christina, and James Michael, as well as his late mother Joan,

sister Julia, and brother Richie; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
3
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4
we congratulate Frank J. Mautino on his retirement as Illinois
5
Auditor General, commend him for his many years of faithful
6
public service, and thank him for his unwavering commitment to
7
the integrity of the State of Illinois; and be it further

8

RESOLVED, That we extend our best wishes to Frank Mautino,
9
his wife, and their children for continued health, happiness,
10
and success in all of their future endeavors; and be it further

11

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12
presented to Frank J. Mautino as a symbol of our profound
13
respect and appreciation.
