HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mayor
4
Jeffrey Joseph "Jeff" Walik of the Village of Stickney, who
5
passed away on May 9, 2026; and

6

WHEREAS, Mayor Walik was born to Joseph and Patricia Walik
7
on February 24, 1966; and

8

WHEREAS, Mayor Walik held a number of roles over the
9
course of his life, working as a newspaper boy, a grocer, a
10
delivery driver, a landscaper, a snow plower, a laundromat
11
owner, a police officer, a village trustee, and a village
12
mayor; no matter the title, he brought the same dedication,
13
grit, and personality into every position he undertook; and

14

WHEREAS, Mayor Walik served as Mayor of the Village of
15
Stickney since 2017, dedicating himself to caring for the
16
community, especially seniors, veterans, residents, and
17
students, while always striving to make others feel welcomed,
18
valued, and supported; and

19

WHEREAS, Mayor Walik lived a life marked by service,
20
humor, hard work, and a deep love for the people around him; he
21
will be remembered for his contagious smile, his

larger-than-life personality, and his sense of humor that
2
could make anyone laugh; and

3

WHEREAS, Mayor Walik was preceded in death by his parents;
4
and

5

WHEREAS, Mayor Walik is survived by his fiancee, Debra;
6
his children, Samantha (Alistair), Ashlee, Robert, Nicole, and
7
Sami; three grandchildren; his sister, Lisa; many nieces,
8
nephews, and extended family members; his friends; and
9
countless community members; therefore, be it

10

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12
we mourn the passing of Mayor Jeffrey Joseph "Jeff" Walik of
13
the Village of Stickney and extend our sincere condolences to
14
his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15
further

16

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17
presented to the family of Mayor Walik as an expression of our
18
deepest sympathy.
