HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Bonnie Lopez on the
4
well-deserved occasion of having the Concordia Place Courtyard
5
dedicated in her honor; and

6

WHEREAS, Bonnie Lopez and her husband, Dennis, have been
7
proud and deeply rooted residents of the Avondale neighborhood
8
in Chicago for 47 years, demonstrating a lifelong commitment
9
to their local community; and

10

WHEREAS, Bonnie Lopez served as a tireless champion and
11
community leader in bringing Concordia Place to the Avondale
12
community in 2006; and

13

WHEREAS, Bonnie Lopez's remarkable record of community
14
engagement and leadership spans multiple decades and vital
15
neighborhood institutions, including serving as a dedicated
16
parent member and community member on the Local School Council
17
(LSC) for Carl Von Linne School for 33 years, on the Board of
18
Directors for Near Northwest Arts Council for 20 years, and on
19
the Advisory Board of Directors for Friends of Linne; and

20

WHEREAS, Beyond her organizational leadership, Bonnie
21
Lopez is an accomplished artisan whose numerous gallery

exhibits have been featured with the Illinois Artisan Shop in
2
the James R. Thompson Center; and

3

WHEREAS, Concordia Place dedicated the Bonnie Lopez
4
Courtyard to honor her incredible contributions and in
5
recognition of her tireless community leadership; therefore,
6
be it

7

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9
we congratulate Bonnie Lopez on the dedication of the Bonnie
10
Lopez Courtyard at Concordia Place in Avondale, thank her for
11
her decades of invaluable service to Concordia Place and the
12
Avondale community, and wish her continued health and
13
happiness; and be it further

14

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15
presented to Bonnie Lopez as an expression of our esteem and
16
respect.
