HOUSE RESOLUTION

2

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives were deeply puzzled to hear that one of our
4
favorite colleagues, Representative Paul Jacobs' wife, Rhoda
5
Jacobs, will soon depart this chamber as they begin their
6
prospective journey to the upper chamber; and

7

WHEREAS, We cannot understand why a firmly grounded son of
8
Southern Illinois would seek to leave the Illinois House of
9
Representatives and steal Rhoda away from us, considering this
10
is the historic chamber of Abraham Lincoln, to pursue what are
11
said to be legislative opportunities in the other chamber of
12
the Illinois General Assembly; and

13

WHEREAS, Although Rep. Jacobs has been a practicing
14
optometrist for well more than 40 years, something must have
15
gone out of focus if he thinks this is a step up in the State
16
Capitol; and

17

WHEREAS, We will especially miss our departing colleague's
18
beloved wife, Rhoda Jacobs, who has been a pillar of support to
19
all of us on the floor of the Illinois House; and

20

WHEREAS, We strongly suspect that Rhoda Jacobs fought to
21
the last against this questionable move, but now that it is

HR0971
- 2 -

1
being made anyway, we wish her and Rep. Jacobs well;
2
therefore, be it

3

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5
we bid goodbye to Rhoda Jacobs as well as her husband,
6
Representative Paul Jacobs; and be it further

7

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8
presented to Rhoda Jacobs as a symbol of our respect and
9
esteem.
