HOUSE RESOLUTION
2
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Associated Research on
4
the occasion of the company's 90th anniversary; and
5
WHEREAS, Associated Research is celebrating nine decades
6
years of electrical safety testing, engineering excellence,
7
innovation, and family leadership; and
8
WHEREAS, Associated Research traces its origins to
9
engineer James Inman founding the Chicago Meter & Repair
10
Laboratory in 1934 to focus on the calibration, repair, and
11
modification of analog panel meters; and
12
WHEREAS, Chicago Meter & Repair Laboratory was renamed
13
Associated Research in 1936, setting the stage for a legacy
14
rooted in engineering precision and customer service; and
15
WHEREAS, James Inman patented the Vibrotest, a
16
battery-operated insulation resistance tester, in 1939, and
17
the device's reliability led to its adoption as standard
18
equipment on United States Navy vessels during World War II;
19
and
20
WHEREAS, Following World War II, Associated Research

expanded into the hipot testing and power utility markets
2
during a period of American postwar industrial growth; and
3
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Michael Braverman,
4
Associated Research made the consequential, strategic decision
5
to position itself to exit the utility business and to focus
6
exclusively on electrical safety compliance testing at the
7
forefront of a growing global market; and
8
WHEREAS, Associated Research helped lead the industry
9
transition from analog to digital technology in the late 1980s
10
and early 1990s; and
11
WHEREAS, Associated Research also pioneered single-box
12
solution testers that consolidated multiple testing functions
13
into one instrument, advancing production-line efficiency and
14
setting a new industry standard; and
15
WHEREAS, Associated Research, through a pivotal
16
relationship with Extech Electronics, which is now Ikonix's
17
Taiwan office, expanded the company from a small United States
18
manufacturer into a middle-market corporation with an
19
international footprint; and
20
WHEREAS, Today, Associated Research operates as a brand
21
under the Ikonix corporate umbrella and serves a broad

customer base, including medical device manufacturers,
2
electric vehicle producers, industrial automation companies,
3
semiconductor companies, and other sectors where electrical
4
safety is paramount; and
5
WHEREAS, Associated Research is known for the Ikonix Way,
6
an approach that emphasizes attentive pre-sale consultation,
7
matching customers with the right solutions, dependable
8
post-sale support, prompt communication, and long-term
9
customer relationships; and
10
WHEREAS, Associated Research and Ikonix reflect values
11
rooted in Midwestern character, including accountability,
12
curiosity, flexibility, passion, comradeship, hard work, and
13
down-to-earth service; and
14
WHEREAS, Associated Research has benefited from four
15
generations of family leadership and from the continuity of
16
senior leaders who have worked, trained, and grown together
17
across the organization; and
18
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of current President and CEO
19
Adam Braverman, Ikonix navigated the 2008 financial crisis and
20
the COVID-19 pandemic, expanded its international presence,
21
and continued investing in product innovation; and

WHEREAS, Associated Research's mission continues to grow
2
in importance as the green energy transition expands,
3
increasing automation and advancing artificial intelligence
4
drive demand for electrically powered products and for
5
reliable safety compliance testing; and
6
WHEREAS, Associated Research's 90-year history represents
7
a legacy of Illinois engineering ingenuity, manufacturing
8
support, customer partnership, technological adaptation, and
9
family-led business continuity; therefore, be it
10
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12
we congratulate Associated Research on its 90th anniversary,
13
commend the company's contributions to electrical safety
14
testing, product innovation, manufacturing, and customer
15
support, and extend our best wishes for its continued success;
16
and be it further
17
RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
18
presented to Associated Research and Ikonix USA as an
19
expression of our esteem and respect.
