625 ILCS 5/3-405.3

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Allows a unit of local government
that engages in the operation of fleet of motor vehicles to register and
license the fleet for operations in the State.

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5.
The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5
changing Section 3-405.3 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/3-405.3)

Sec. 3-405.3.
Application for fleet vehicles.

(a) An owner
or unit of local government
engaged in
9
operating a fleet of motor vehicles of the first division in
10
this State or a fleet of second division vehicles operated
11
intrastate may register and license the fleet for operations
12
in this State by filing an application statement with the
13
Secretary of State, signed under penalties of perjury, which
14
shall be in the form and contain the information required by
15
the Secretary of State. First division vehicles registered
16
under this Section must be registered in accordance with the
17
fees prescribed in Section 3-806 of this Code. Second division
18
vehicles registered under this Section must be registered in
19
accordance with the fees prescribed in Section 3-815 of this
20
Code.

(b) Participation in the fleet registration plan may be
22
accomplished only by entering into a contractual agreement
23
with the Secretary. The applicant must have electronic data

interchange capabilities. The Secretary shall in his or her
2
discretion determine other qualifications for fleet owners to
3
register under this paragraph. In making the determination,
4
the Secretary shall consider the size of the fleet and the past
5
history of the registrant.
