The Department of Transportation Law of the 5 Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding 6 Section 2705-206 as follows: 7 (20 ILCS 2705/2705-206 new) 8 Sec. 2705-206. Road safety assessment. The Department 9 shall conduct a road safety assessment for the 10 most 10 hazardous intersections under State jurisdiction in Will 11 County south of Interstate 80. The Department, in consultation 12 with local agencies, shall determine the intersections to be 13 studied. The road safety assessment shall be a formal, 14 independent, comprehensive safety performance review of 15 roadway and intersection safety in compliance with 23 CFR 924 16 and provide opportunities for improvement. Expressways shall 17 not be included in the road safety assessment. The Department 18 shall submit the road safety assessment to the General 19 Assembly by January 1, 2028. 20 This Section is repealed on July 1, 2028.
