SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

305 ILCS 5/5-1.7 new
305 ILCS 5/12-4.4a new

Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid
Code. Provides that the Department of Healthcare and Family Services shall
not require recipients of medical assistance who are also former foster
care youth, veterans, or people experiencing homelessness to work a
minimum amount of hours in order to maintain eligibility for medical
assistance. Amends the Administration Article of the Illinois Public Aid
Code. Provides that the Department of Human Services shall not require
recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits
who are also former foster care youth, veterans, or people experiencing
homelessness to work a minimum amount of hours in order to maintain
eligibility for SNAP benefits.

AN ACT concerning public aid.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5.
The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by

adding Sections 5-1.7 and 12-4.4a as follows:

Sec. 5-1.7.
No work requirement.
The Department shall not
8
require recipients of medical assistance who are also former
9
foster care youth, veterans, or people experiencing
10
homelessness to work a minimum amount of hours in order to
11
maintain eligibility for medical assistance.

Sec. 12-4.4a.
No SNAP work requirement.
The Department of

Human Services shall not require recipients of Supplemental
