SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3
Assembly pays honor and respect to those individuals who have
4
given their lives in service to their community; and

5

WHEREAS, Deputy Sheriff Christina Musil, a beacon of joy
6
and resilience, was born to Philip and Diane Caporaso on
7
August 17, 1988; and

8

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil dedicated her time to bettering the
9
communities of DeKalb County as a deputy of the DeKalb County
10
Sheriff's Office; and

11

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil served in the U.S. Army National
12
Guard, including completing a tour of duty in Afghanistan from
13
2008 to 2009; and

14

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil was a passionate fan of the New York
15
Yankees and the New Jersey Devils, but her truest enthusiasm
16
as a fan was reserved for watching her children compete in
17
their youth sport organizations; and

18

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil was killed in the line of duty on
19
March 29, 2024; and

WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Deputy Musil was
2
survived by her children, Zoe, Genevieve, and Cillin; her
3
parents; her siblings, Bridgette Caporaso and Anthony
4
Caporaso; and additional family members and friends; and

5

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil will be remembered as an incredible
6
woman with a magnetic personality, a ready laugh, and a
7
selfless spirit; therefore, be it

8

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
10
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate State
11
Route 23 from Perry Road to McGirr Road as the "Deputy Sheriff
12
Christina Musil Memorial Highway"; and be it further

13

RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
14
is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
15
State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
16
giving notice of the name "Deputy Sheriff Christina Musil
17
Memorial Highway"; and be it further

18

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
19
presented to the family of Deputy Sheriff Christina Musil and
20
the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
