SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3
congratulate Lois Preston on receiving her master's degree in
4
computer science at the age of 87; and

5

WHEREAS, Lois Preston retired after serving as a caring
6
nurse for 30 years; she worked at Cuneo Hospital, Columbus
7
Hospital, and Mother Cabrini Hospital, before ultimately
8
retiring from St. Joseph's Hospital; and

9

WHEREAS, Lois Preston, after retirement, worked for seven
10
years at Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church; she then went
11
back to school and earned her associate's degree at
12
Kennedy-King College, her bachelor's degree in computer
13
science from Governors State University, and her master's
14
degree in computer science, also from Governors State
15
University; and

16

WHEREAS, Lois Preston is the oldest person to graduate
17
from Governors State University and said that she pursued her
18
education to be a role model for younger generations; and

19

WHEREAS, Lois Preston is the true meaning of resilience;
20
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
2
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lois
3
Preston on receiving her master's degree in computer science
4
at the age of 87; and be it further

5

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6
presented to Lois Preston as a symbol of our respect and
7
esteem.
