SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3
congratulate The Liberty Restaurant on the occasion of its
4
50th anniversary; and

5

WHEREAS, The Liberty Restaurant (The Liberty) was
6
established by brothers George and Steve Frangos and their
7
late uncle, Sam Kapotas, 50 years ago; and

8

WHEREAS, The Liberty, the roughly 175-seat restaurant
9
located at 419 South Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville, has
10
largely remained the same since the 1970s, aside from a few
11
cosmetic changes over the years; and

12

WHEREAS, The Liberty prides itself on featuring
13
made-from-scratch dishes, soups homemade daily, eggs cooked in
14
butter not oil, and corned beef hash made in-house; and

15

WHEREAS, The Liberty is beloved by locals for its quality
16
homemade food and amazing service, with servers being noted
17
for their affability, kindness, and ability to recall
18
customers by name; and

19

WHEREAS, The Liberty is still owned and operated by the
20
Frangos family, who originally emigrated from Greece, making

the establishment one of only two restaurants in Libertyville
2
to have operated continuously under the same name, location,
3
and ownership for the last 50 years; therefore, be it

4

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate The
6
Liberty Restaurant on achieving its 50th anniversary, and we
7
wish the restaurant and the Frangos family continued success;
8
and be it further

9

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10
presented to the Frangos family as an expression of our esteem
11
and respect.
