SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3
recognize the Council of State Governments (CSG) on the
4
occasion of the organization's return to its birthplace, the
5
City of Chicago, for the 2025 CSG National Conference; and

6

WHEREAS, CSG, the nation's only nonpartisan, nonprofit
7
organization serving all three branches of state government,
8
established an office in Chicago 87 years ago; and

9

WHEREAS, CSG was created to connect state leaders across
10
the nation and facilitate the sharing of ideas and policy for
11
the common good; and

12

WHEREAS, CSG's mission is advanced through four regional
13
offices, including CSG Midwest, which hosts its office in
14
Lombard; and

15

WHEREAS, CSG provides leadership development, research,
16
and national support through its regional programs, the Henry
17
Toll Fellowship, and policy academies; and

18

WHEREAS, CSG has elected two governors from the State of
19
Illinois who have served as its national president and five
20
legislators from the State who have served as its national

chair since 1938, including its current national chair; and

WHEREAS, CSG continues to serve as a valued resource to
3
the State, a catalyst for collaboration and innovation, and a
4
champion of excellence in state government; therefore, be it

5

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
6
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the
7
Council of State Governments (CSG) on the organization's
8
return to the City of Chicago, its first home, for the 2025 CSG
9
National Conference, being held from December 9 to December
10
13, 2025; and be it further

11

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12
presented to CSG as an expression of our esteem and respect.
